We're looking for a hands-on Payroll & HRIS Specialist to take ownership of our U.S. and Canadian payroll processes from start to finish. In this role, you'll do more than push buttons-you'll ensure every paycheck is accurate, every compliance box is checked, and every teammate's question is answered clearly and quickly. You'll also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our HRIS and supporting key onboarding functions.

responsibilities:
- Process and audit U.S. and Canadian payroll on a semi-monthly basis, ensuring accuracy in hours, deductions, and tax withholdings.
- Manage payroll through Paylocity for U.S. employees and Blue Marble for international (Canadian) employees.
- Partner with our Finance and HR teams on reconciliations, reporting, and systems.
- Assist with payroll system updates, implementations, and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and Canadian payroll regulations, including statutory filings and year-end processes (e.g., W-2, T4).
- Maintain and audit employee data up to date in our HRIS, supporting changes in compensation, benefits, and tax status.
- Create reports and summaries for leadership and external auditors when needed.
- Be the go-to person for pay- and time-related questions from employees.
- Track and report paid time off, leave of absence, and other pay-impacting activity.
- Collaborate with other departments to support multi-entry or global payroll needs.
- Support the new hire onboarding process by entering payroll and tax information, ensuring timely set up of direct deposit and tax withholdings, and verifying eligibility for benefits-related deductions.
qualifications:
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience, including multi-state and Canadian payroll.
- Experience with Paylocity, Blue Marble, and enterprise HRIS tools.
- Experience supporting new hire onboarding and system data integrity.
- Solid understanding of payroll laws and tax requirements in both the U.S. and Canada.
- Bonus if you've helped implement or migrated payroll system.
- A sharp eye for detail and commitment to handling sensitive information with care.
- Proficient in Excel and payroll reporting tools.
- CPP certification is great-but not a deal-breaker if you've got experience.
