The position reports to an excellent CFO, who truly enjoys training and cultivating up and coming accountants! The Staff Accountant will be crucial for upholding organizational transparency, accountability, and enduring financial health.
This role is primarily onsite in Wilmington, DE.

- Oversee the entire procurement-to-payment (accounts payable) and invoicing-to-collection (accounts receivable) cycles, ensuring all transactions are processed promptly.
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, confirming that all monetary activities are logged accurately and without delay.
- Perform routine and thorough reconciliations of all financial accounts, including bank statements, corporate credit card activity, and key balance sheet accounts.
- Contribute to the creation of periodic financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annually), adhering strictly to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profits.
- Provide support in developing organizational budgets, financial projections, and detailed cash flow analysis.
- Collaborate with Housing personnel and the Finance Department to provide focused financial reports detailing housing budget performance.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is mandatory.
- Between 2 to 5 years of professional accounting experience, with a strong preference for background in the nonprofit sector.
- Substantial understanding of Accrual-basis GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting principles is highly desirable. Prior experience managing grant reporting and ensuring related compliance is a plus.
