responsibilities:
- Specimen Handling & Management: You'll be responsible for receiving, sorting, storing, and retrieving specimens. This also includes finding missing samples and resolving any pending lists to keep things moving.
- Lab Preparation & Processing: You'll prepare specimens for testing, which involves tasks like centrifuging, aliquoting into sample cups, checking for clots, inoculating, and preparing slides. You'll also prepare necessary reagents and media.
- Equipment & Data Maintenance: You'll perform routine maintenance on lab equipment and accurately record important data, such as temperature charts.
- Quality Assurance & Safety: You'll perform assigned quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) tasks. A key part of your role will be ensuring a safe lab environment by decontaminating work areas, disposing of biohazardous materials, performing weekly radioactive wipe tests, and strictly following all safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Administrative & Support Tasks: You'll maintain department records, manage gas cylinders, and utilize the lab's computer system and other PCs for various tasks.
- Continuous Learning: You'll complete all required training and competency assessments to stay up-to-date.

Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical assistant training helpful
- Math and science courses preferred
- Some lab experience preferred
skills: GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
