responsibilities:
- Specimen Handling & Analysis: Accurately handle and process specimens, perform test analyses using approved procedures, and ensure the proper reporting and maintenance of patient test results.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, meticulously document all QC activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance. Maintain strict compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve issues that may impact test performance or result reporting, escalating complex problems to senior technologists or supervisors as needed. Document all corrective actions.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of all testing performed, proficiency testing samples, and ensure proper labeling and dating of reagents and test kits.
- Communication & Support: Effectively communicate STAT and critical results to clients. Provide assistance and answer questions from customers and other lab personnel as required.
- Training & Development: Actively participate in monthly department meetings, training sessions, and continuous education initiatives to stay current with new procedures and safety protocols.
- Laboratory Maintenance: Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the department.
- Regulatory Support: Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections when necessary.
qualifications:
Required:
- AS in biology, chemistry or related field
- Generalist ASCP certification required
- 1 year of lab experience
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related field
- 1 year of high complexity testing in a clinical lab
