Large utility is looking for an EPC Cost Estimator in Jackson, MI. This role prepares detailed cost estimates for medium-sized and complex construction projects by performing quantity takeoffs, using cost estimating software, and applying industry standards across multiple disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Pipeline), requiring at least 1-2 years of construction cost estimating experience, knowledge of electrical utility systems (Substation, HVD, LVD), and preferably an Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm. responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates for medium-sized and complex projects, handling various contract types.
- Develop pricing using industry standards and estimating guidelines.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and daily use of estimating software tools.
- Calculate complete discipline-specific scope estimates (e.g., civil, electrical).
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend meetings to determine scope of work.
- Coordinate the overall estimating effort for assigned projects.
- Use cost estimating software under the mentorship of Senior Estimators.
- Maintain backup documentation and working files for all estimate figures.
- Support Senior Estimators in updating and managing the cost database.
- Understanding of estimating techniques, cost control, and computerized cost systems.
- Knowledge of disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Pipeline, Storage, and M&R.
- Familiarity with Electrical Utility (Substation, HVD, LVD) projects is essential.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of construction cost estimating experience.
- Relevant estimating experience may substitute for formal education.
