Large utility is looking for a Forestry Supervisor in Flint, MI. This position requires an individual with a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or a related field, 4-7 years of utility forestry experience, and certifications in Right of Way Pest Management and as an Arborist to provide comprehensive forestry services, including managing complex vegetation plans, overseeing contractors, and acting as the primary customer and vendor contact. responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive forestry services for the company.
- Conduct tree inventories and oversee line-clearing contractors.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and departments to mentor field team members on forestry best practices.
- Conduct on-site visits to company assets on customer properties to assess tree health, identify risks, and recommend solutions.
- Prepare highly detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
- Lead storm restoration efforts with non-company crews for HVD and LVD systems.
- Manage multiple complex, large-scale projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Perform quality control checks on completed projects.
- Review and approve all project proposals and invoices.
- Oversee contractor crews, monitoring schedules, work assignments, and performance.
- Serve as the senior primary contact for customers and vendors, providing expert consulting services on tree risk assessment, inventory, valuation, and removal.
- Assess and address customer concerns to ensure resolution.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (Expert Knowledge).
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills (Expert Knowledge).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and GIS software (Expert Knowledge).
- strong understanding of tree biology and risk assessment (Expert Knowledge).
- Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field (Required).
- 4 - 7 years of forestry experience, including experience with utility companies (Required).
