A Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Hickory, NC area. This position requires a fiber optics professional skilled in cable installation, fusion splicing, and data analysis to perform daily testing, documentation, and troubleshooting of fiber optic components under a variety of environmental conditions.

responsibilities:
- Assisting with the setup and performance verification of fiber optic testing systems.
- Configuring product samples for environmental and mechanical testing.
- Performing optical measurements using manual or automated test systems.
- Programming and operating environmental chambers and test equipment.
- Setting up, performing, and tracking testing as directed by established procedures.
- Documenting test results, conducting basic data analysis, and drafting test reports.
- Assisting with failure mode analysis and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work accurately.
- Detail-oriented.
- strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Hands-on technical skills with test and measuring equipment.
