A Senior Electrical Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Ogden, UT area. This job involves designing and modeling complex electrical systems for defense and aerospace projects, using specialized software like SmartPlant 3D, and ensuring all designs comply with industry codes and standards.

responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and review electrical engineering designs, drawings, and documentation.
- Prepare design estimates for projects.
- Coordinate with clients, lead technical discussions, and review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.
- Resolve complex technical issues and ensure designs comply with all regulations, codes, and standards.
- Lead the work of other electrical designers and drafters, including preparing 2D and 3D CAD models and construction drawings.
- Develop complex electrical engineering systems designs with minimal supervision.
- Support, coach, and train less experienced designers.
- Model electrical rooms, equipment, cable trays, conduit, lighting, and other items using SmartPlant 3D.
- Create bills of materials and installation drawings using SmartSketch and AutoCAD.
- Perform lighting and ground grid calculations using AGI 32 and ETAP.
- Coordinate 3D modeling activities and resolve interference issues with other disciplines.
- Produce drawings for interior and exterior layouts, including raceway design, equipment location, lighting, lightning protection, and grounding plans.
- Develop material specifications using the SpecsIntact software.
- Make jobsite visits to resolve problems and interpret drawings.
Education: AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD.
Experience: 7-8 years of experience with an AA/AS or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Technical Knowledge:
- strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE Standards.
- Experience with SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with an electronic Cable Management System like SETROUTE.
- Experience in a relevant field such as nuclear or industrial facilities, data centers, or complex building electrical systems.
- Experience with DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA projects is a plus.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other disciplines.
- Capable of managing conflicting deadlines and multiple tasks.
