A Senior Electrical Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Ogden, UT area. This job involves designing, developing, and leading the electrical engineering aspects for complex defense and aerospace projects, requiring extensive knowledge of power systems analysis, technical software like ETAP and AutoCAD, and compliance with all relevant industry standards.

responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and client interviews to define project scope and costs for electrical engineering aspects.
- Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes.
- Prepare electrical system designs for DoD and USAF projects, specifically supporting the USAF Sentinel program.
- Develop new design drawings using AutoCAD, including single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, and grounding and lightning protection plans.
- Perform power system analysis and calculations using ETAP for tasks like load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash.
- Conduct other facility-related calculations, such as lighting design using AGI 32 and ground grid sizing.
- Perform equipment sizing calculations for transformers, panel boards, UPS, and batteries, as well as circuit breaker and cable sizing.
- Develop equipment and material specifications using SpecsIntact.
- Create procurement documentation and evaluate supplier proposals.
- Review vendor submittals and integrate the information into the overall design.
- Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and contract requirements.
Level I: Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Level II: Bachelor's degree with 10-13 years of experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Technical Skills:
- strong knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
- Proficiency in ETAP, AutoCAD, and AGI 32.
- Experience with SpecsIntact is a plus.
- Experience with SmartPlant 3D is preferred.
- Experience in power systems load modeling and analysis, along with a strong understanding of engineering drawings and calculations.
- Relevant experience in nuclear or industrial facilities, data centers, or complex building electrical systems.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the U.S.
- Experience with government agencies, particularly the Department of Defense.
- Prior experience with quality assurance programs like ISO-9000.
- Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and the Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG).
