An Electrical Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Ogden, UT area. This job involves creating detailed electrical designs and construction drawings for a Department of Defense project, utilizing 3D modeling software like SmartPlant 3D and Revit while ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

responsibilities:
Design and Drafting:
- Develop electrical construction drawings using SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD for the DOD Sentinel project.
- Model electrical equipment and components in a 3D Revit environment.
- Prepare two-dimensional drawings from three-dimensional models, including proper annotations for construction.
- Produce electrical calculations and equipment/commodity specifications.
- Assist in developing various electrical designs, including: Grounding systems and lightning protection, Equipment arrangement plans and raceway layouts (conduit, cable tray, duct bank), Bills of materials and material take-offs and Interior/exterior lighting designs.
- Work under the direction of senior engineers and designers.
- Review and incorporate client requirements into the design.
- Coordinate reviews of project deliverables with the client and other engineering disciplines.
- Perform model reviews and resolve clashes or interference issues with other disciplines.
- Collaborate with designers in other disciplines to ensure a cohesive overall design.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).
- Review and check design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and functionality.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Provide technical support to construction teams.
Education & Experience:
- Level I: AA/AS degree or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 1-2 years of experience, or 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Level II: AA/AS degree or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 3-4 years of experience, or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
- Hands-on experience using 3D modeling software such as SmartPlant 3D and Revit.
- Experience with architectural interfaces, drawing generation, and managing views and design options in modeling software.
- strong ability to collaborate with other disciplines and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to independently and collaboratively resolve design issues.
