responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Serve as the team lead for the automation and process control portion of large capital projects, coordinating resources from internal teams and external contractors.
- Capital Project Management: Manage all phases of the project lifecycle, including scope definition, budget management, timeline development, and risk mitigation for projects ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and oversight on control system technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, and associated network architectures. Experience with legacy and modern control platforms is highly valued.
- System Integration: Oversee the integration of new control systems with existing plant infrastructure and process equipment. While direct PLC programming is not a core requirement, a strong understanding of controls engineering principles is essential to effectively manage and guide project teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ yrs' experience managing large-scale, complex capital projects within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience in control systems design and automation projects
- strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate project teams without direct personnel management authority
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in the steel, mining, power generation, or similar heavy industrial sectors is highly preferred
