Large utility is looking for a Environmental Technician in Olive Township, MI. responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and report on surface, potable, and wastewater samples.
- Perform wet laboratory analysis, as well as fuel and oil sampling and analysis.
- Conduct daily water quality monitoring and ensure the performance of lab equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain and repair laboratory and field instrumentation.
- Calibrate field and lab instruments.
- Monitor system processes and status, and take corrective action.
- Adhere to a Quality Control and Assurance Program.
- Submit electronic work requests for equipment deficiencies.
- Comply with environmental regulations for drinking and surface water quality.
- Process waste for proper disposal.
- Waste Treatment Plant Operator Certifications are beneficial.
- Familiarity with the thermodynamic steam cycle, power plant components, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance is an asset.
- Knowledge of analytical laboratory equipment, mechanical equipment (pumps, valves), and high-quality water production systems (RO, ion exchange, filtration) is a bonus.
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft Excel is also advantageous.
- An Associate's degree in a scientific or technical field, or 48 equivalent credit hours, is required.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or other science/math fields is preferred.
- One or more years of experience with NPDES, Storm Water, and RCRA waste management is a plus.
