A Senior Geoscientist is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Reston, VA area. This job is for an experienced hydrogeologist with a strong background in numerical modeling and field investigations to perform technical work, prepare reports, and collaborate with diverse teams on engineering and environmental projects.

responsibilities:
- Perform hydrogeological work as directed by senior staff.
- Coordinate input from various specialties like geology, hydrology, and engineering for data interpretation and model development.
- Apply numerical ground-water flow modeling using commercial or public domain computer codes.
- Participate in field investigations, including site characterization, well installation, aquifer tests, and water sampling.
- Assist senior staff in preparing technical reports, calculations, and presentations.
- Review geotechnical subcontractor's reports and prepare comments and recommendations.
- Contribute to a work environment based on openness, trust, communication, and teamwork.
Education & Experience:
- M.S. in hydrogeology, engineering geology, or a related geosciences discipline with 8 years of progressive experience.
- OR Ph.D. in the same disciplines with 6 years of progressive experience.
- Proficiency with geology software such as MODFLOW, Aqtesolv, Leapfrog, and OpenGround.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics, and other relevant computer applications for data analysis.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Curiosity, initiative, and sound judgment.
- Ability to resolve design issues with team members, suppliers, and clients.
- Knowledge of engineering deliverables (drawings, specifications, material requisitions).
- Knowledge of construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
- Understanding of the work processes of other disciplines on projects.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Willingness and ability to travel and remain at a jobsite for an extended time.
