A Quality Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Lafayette, IN area. The position involves working closely with various teams including production, engineering, and logistics to investigate, define, and mitigate the impact of defective parts.

responsibilities:
- Investigates and defines supplier quality issues, communicating them to cross-functional teams.
- Assesses the impact of supplier issues, working with various teams to mitigate production line downtime.
- Manages the disposition of defective parts, coordinating returns and rework with suppliers and third parties.
- Contributes to root cause analysis by providing data and facts for problem-solving.
- Manages supplier deviation and process change requests, and follows up on PPAPs.
- Supports NPI (New Product Introduction) projects.
- Manages supplier performance data and financial chargebacks.
- Reports to the supplier quality manager with no supervisory responsibilities.
- Works in an office and on the production floor.
- Data collection analysis.
- Problem solving and critical thinking.
- Blueprint reading.
- Gages and measurements.
- MS Office Software (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is needed.
- Requires 2-4 years of manufacturing industry experience.
