A Safety Health and Environmental Specialist is needed for the world's largest food and beverage company in the Bridgewater, NJ area. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing a site's safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance, foster a strong safety culture, and continuously improve performance.

responsibilities:
Safety Culture: Promote a site culture where safety, health, and environment (SH&E) are core values, aiming for zero harm and active employee engagement.
Compliance & Procedures:
- Develop and implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, training, and inspections to comply with OSHA standards.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory agencies (federal, state, and local).
- Implement systems to maintain an "audit-ready" state of compliance.
- Coordinate and facilitate all SH&E training for the site.
- Investigate all incidents in collaboration with site leadership.
- Help the site maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
- Review and approve engineering designs to ensure they comply with environmental regulations.
- Coordinate risk assessments and safety inspections, especially for non-routine tasks and contractor work.
- Analyze SH&E data to recommend continuous improvements.
- Coach and develop supervisors to be effective SH&E leaders.
- Promote and improve the behavior-based safety (BBS) program.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in an environmental or safety field is preferred, but relevant experience may substitute.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience coordinating SH&E activities, specifically in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
- Certifications: Professional certifications like ASP, CSP, GSP, or CIH are considered beneficial.
- Communication: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Collaboration: The ability to build teams and work with all levels of the organization with tact and respect.
- Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing data using Excel and/or Power BI.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of machine guarding and dust assessment.
- Decision-Making: Capable of making informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
- Problem-Solving: strong insight and ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.
