Large utility is looking for a Civil Engineer in Jackson, MI. This job requires a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering to serve as a Senior Civil Engineer, providing expert design and technical leadership for high-voltage electric substation projects, utilizing skills in structural design, code knowledge, and project management while safely navigating heavy industrial environments. responsibilities:
- Identifying and scoping civil engineering design and construction for substation projects.
- Contracting and managing engineering services.
- Providing technical leadership and design authority.
- Collaborating with Project Managers on procurement and construction.
- Completing project closeout activities like record drawings.
- Serving as the civil subject-matter-expert for the company.
- Providing regular project updates on status, risks, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Working knowledge of civil/structural design topics like site design, stormwater management, foundation design, and structural steel design.
- Experience with contract documents, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant codes such as NESC, ASCE 7, and IBC/MBC.
- Proficiency in software like Civil3D, RISA, and SAP.
- strong personal skills including safety, independence, communication, leadership, and problem-solving.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
