A Senior Hydrogeologist is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Reston, VA area. Highly experienced geoscientist sought to perform hydrogeological data interpretation and numerical ground-water flow modeling for engineering and environmental studies, requiring proficiency with software like MODFLOW, Aqtesolv, and strong field investigation and technical report writing skills.

responsibilities:
- Perform work directed by senior staff using conventional hydrogeological procedures.
- Coordinate input from specialties (geology, hydrology, engineering) for hydrogeologic data interpretation and conceptual model development.
- Apply numerical ground-water flow modeling using commercial or public domain computer codes to support engineering, safety, and environmental studies.
- Participate in field investigations, including site characterization, well installation, aquifer tests, and water sampling.
- Assist senior staff in preparing technical reports, calculations, and presentations.
- Review geotechnical subcontractor's reports and prepare comments and recommendations.
- Participate in and foster a collaborative work environment based on trust, communication, and teamwork.
- M.S. in hydrogeology, engineering geology, or a related geosciences discipline plus 8 years of progressive related experience. OR
- Ph.D. in the same disciplines plus 6 years of progressive related experience
- Proficiency with geology software (e.g., MODFLOW, Aqtesolv, Leapfrog, OpenGround).
- Proficiency with standard computer applications for data compilation and analysis (word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics).
- Knowledge of engineering deliverables (drawings, specifications, material requisitions) and construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
- Understands work processes of other engineering disciplines and departments on projects.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Curiosity, initiative, and sound judgment.
- In-depth knowledge of the fields of geology and engineering.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other disciplines, construction, and the client.
