A Senior Engineer for a medical devices and equipment manufacturing company is needed in the Mahwah, NJ area. The Senior Engineer will revolutionize orthopaedic implant design and procedures by applying advanced nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and multibody simulation methodologies, developing custom automation, validating models.

responsibilities:
- Apply and develop innovative simulation methodologies to characterize and optimize next-generation orthopaedic implant designs, processes, and surgical procedures.
- Perform detailed literature searches to support analytical methods and assumptions.
- Execute static and dynamic nonlinear multibody finite element analyses (FEA) including deformable contact, advanced materials, and multi-physics.
- Develop new techniques and implement automation using custom programming (e.g., Fortran, Matlab, Python) when required.
- Evaluate analytical results and recommend design, process, or material changes based on characterization.
- Develop and validate analytical models for research insight.
- Possesses refined technical report writing and external publication writing skills.
- Authors reports for 510(k) submission, abstracts for conferences, and articles for peer-reviewed journals.
- Contributes to cross-functional teams developing next-generation technologies and devices.
- Becomes familiar with competitive technologies to develop innovative customer-focused solutions.
- Experience with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-Dyna), CAD (e.g., Pro/Engineer, Solidworks), custom programming (e.g., Fortran, Matlab, Python), and musculoskeletal simulation (e.g., OpenSim).
- Ability to contribute to complex discovery-based research from concept through final recommendation.
- Understanding of mechanics, engineering principles, new technology, and product development processes.
- strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to deliver innovative analytical, process, or material solutions in the research arena.
- Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline.
- 2+ years of experience with modeling & simulation-based research in the medical device industry, or equivalent.
