A Senior Structural Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Ogden, UT area. This role requires an experienced professional to independently design and check complex steel and concrete structures using TEKLA software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes, while leading constructability reviews and coordinating technical details across integrated project teams.

responsibilities:
Design & Documentation
- Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope.
- Perform design for: steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, cold-formed steel, anchor bolts, and steel/reinforcing steel detailing.
- Review existing conditions and as-builts drawings.
- Review customer & vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
- Develop concrete and steel structural design and drawings, including seismic detailing.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of cost estimates and quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
- Ensure structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
- Coordinate and interface as directed with engineers on day-to-day technical work.
- Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
- Coordinate assigned structural design work with other project groups.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
- Lead technical discussions and constructability reviews (implied from description).
- Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
- Mentor structural designers by providing appropriate on-the-job training.
- Standard Level: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 8-10 years of relevant experience, OR 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Design Expertise: Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in the use of TEKLA software (design and detailing of steel and reinforced concrete).
- Industry Standards: Thorough knowledge and application of: Detailing for Steel Construction, ACI Detailing Manual SPI-66 & Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables (drawings, specifications).
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
- Broad knowledge of the application of structural engineering design principles.
- Process Understanding: Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to express technical issues clearly and concisely.
- Software Tools: Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense (DoD).
- Prior experience with USACE Computed-Aided Design (CAD) Standard ERDC/ITL TR-19-7.
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and the Whole Building Design Guide.
