A CAD Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. This role will provide CAD (Solidworks/AutoCAD) design and technical support for industrial thermal process equipment, focusing on drawings, documentation, parts procurement, and spare parts list creation, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills.

responsibilities:
- Provide mechanical design and technical support to engineers.
- Support design, development, and testing of industrial thermal process equipment.
- Assist engineers with mechanical equipment component design using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Update and revise existing equipment drawings and documentation.
- Support equipment debug, start-up, and installations.
- Procure material and process equipment using company approved processes.
- Modify design layouts of mechanical systems and subsystems using 2D/3D CAD under engineer direction.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation packages (drawings and written materials).
- Compile Spare Parts Lists based on vendor or engineer recommendations.
- Assist engineers with specifications for commercially available equipment.
- Requires familiarity with Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in a team-based and highly matrixed project team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities through sound planning and organizing.
- Ability to select standard mechanical parts from a vendor catalog or by contacting the vendor.

- Ability to work independently to complete drafting and design tasks.
