Large utility is looking for a Electrical Engineer in Jackson, MI. This engineering role requires a self-motivated Electrical Engineer (ABET-accredited B.S. required) with analytical, communication, and MS Office skills to perform hands-on integration and testing of electrical hardware and software devices in substations, with experience in RTUs, DNP-3.0, IEC-61131, and high-level programming being highly desired.

responsibilities:
Engineering and Integration: Responsible for the engineering and integration of hardware and software for:
- Programmable/configurable devices.
- Substation network devices.
- Legacy electrical devices in electric substations and on electric lines.
Hands-on Prototyping and Testing: Work hands-on in a lab environment performing:
- System prototyping.
- Test setups.
- Connection/integration of devices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Analytical Skills: strong analytical skills are required.
- Communication: Good clear oral and written communications skills and customer relations skills are required.
- Software Proficiency: Prior MS Access, MS Excel, and MS Word skills are required.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and extremely self-motivated.
- Dedicated interest in the integration, connectivity design, networking, programming, and configuration of IEDs.
- Ability to work successfully in a diverse team environment with employees of varying technical skills and grade levels.
- Device Experience: Prior experience with programmable/configurable devices, such as RTUs, regulator, and recloser controls.
- Programming Standards: Experience with the IEC-61131 programming suite.
- Communication Protocols: Experience with the DNP-3.0 protocol (both serial and IP).
- High-Level Language: Experience programming in VB.NET or another high-level language.
