This individual will serve as the Commercial Start-Up Technician, primarily responsible for the commissioning and activation of newly installed commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems. responsibilities:
- Perform start-up, commissioning, and functional testing of commercial HVAC/R systems, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, VRF/VRV, and supermarket parallel refrigeration systems.
- Verify installation quality, ensuring all new HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems meet manufacturer specifications, design intent, engineering specs, and local codes
- Calibrate, adjust, program, and perform all wiring for system controls, including thermostats, sensors, BAS/EMS interfaces, and automation systems.
- Diagnose operational issues, resolve deficiencies in coordination with installation crews, and troubleshoot/maintain commercial mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Lead small projects (e.g., single case/condenser changeouts), assist with Energy Optimization (EO) projects (retro-commissioning, EMS/leak detection upgrades), and function as the subject matter expert.
- Accurately document start-up procedures/test results, provide clear walk-throughs and training to end-users, and communicate effectively with contractors/customers.
- Expertise in advanced solid-state controls and oil systems safety controls.
- Proficient in single and parallel compressor system start-up, mechanical sub-cooling, advanced de-frost diagnosis, and head pressure controls for energy reduction.
- Knowledge of and experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and refrigeration rack oil systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, perform system evacuations, and align/level equipment for optimal performance.
