A Senior Mechanical Engineer is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Cary, NC area. This role is sought to lead and support advanced facilities projects, ensuring technical quality, budget, and schedule adherence while specializing in building mechanical systems (HVAC, Utility, Plumbing, Fire Protection) and mentoring junior staff.

responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Accountability:
- Accountable for budget, schedule, and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks.
 - Gain familiarity with client expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.
 
- Lead a multi-discipline, highly interactive team to deliver design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems.
 - Focus on building HVAC, Utility, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems and components.
 - Provide occasional on-site assistance during startup.
 
- Coordinate work activities with other design and engineering professionals and project management.
 - Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and construction teams.
 
- Utilize technical expertise to mentor junior team members.
 - Nurture team members' purpose and guide their professional growth.
 
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
- 15+ years of practical mechanical engineering and design experience (HVAC, Utilities, fire protection, plumbing, and related systems).
 - Minimum 5 years of Life Sciences consulting engineering experience.
 - Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
 
- Ability to lead a medium to large multinational team of designers and engineers.
 - Ability to collaborate and work effectively in diverse teams.
 - Passion for buildings and construction.
 
Software Proficiency: Proficient working knowledge of Revit or SmartPlant software.
Industry Experience: Industrial design experience (e.g., pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, or similar).
Professional Skills:
- Client-facing skills.
