A Quality Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Pontiac, IL area. This Quality Engineer role focuses on ensuring internal manufacturing quality in Fuel Systems machining processes by using problem-solving tools (8D, FMEA), driving continuous improvement through data analysis, and collaborating within a cross-functional plant environment.

responsibilities:
- The position contributes to Internal Manufacturing Quality in Fuel Systems, focusing on machining processes.
- The role has a direct influence on product reliability, customer satisfaction, and brand reputation.

- Typical tasks include leading/supporting quality issue investigations (scrap/rework/customer complaints).
- Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions using tools like 8D, fishbone, and FMEA.
- Conduct Process Monitoring/Continuous Improvement using data and risk analysis.
- Collaborate with the Small Business Team (SBT) to improve process capability and reduce variation.
- Analyze quality data (e.g., defect rates, process capability, SPC charts).
- Prepare reports for management and cross-functional teams, and track KPIs (e.g., First Pass Yield, internal/external PPM).
- Problem solving & root cause analysis, Data-driven decision making, Communication and cross-functional collaboration.
- Attention to detail, Process improvement.
- Knowledge of quality standards, FMEA, risk management.
- Cross-functional teamwork with professional and production staff, Adaptability to changing conditions.
- Bachelor's in a relevant field.
- 5 years of experience.
