We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer to join our Charlotte Design Center team. This office-based role (with potential hybrid flexibility of up to three onsite days per week, pending approval) supports multi-discipline engineering projects within the power and industrial sectors. The ideal candidate is a journeyman-level piping designer with a minimum of ten years of hands-on design experience, capable of independently executing complex design tasks and collaborating effectively with project leads and other disciplines.
In this role, you will utilize advanced 3D modeling tools-particularly Aveva E3D (or PDMS), AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks-to produce high-quality piping designs and support model reviews and clash coordination. Experience in the power industry is strongly preferred, though candidates with relevant experience in industrial facilities, oil and gas, chemicals, or LNG will also be considered.
Candidates must be local to Charlotte or willing to relocate, and able to work onsite regularly.

responsibilities:
- Implement assignments and activities delegated from the Group Supervisor.
- Execute project objectives working with drafters, designers, engineers and support personnel in the planning, scheduling, quality and execution of projects.
- Manage the completion of all required deliverables including construction drawings, design studies and bills of materials.
- Schedule work assignments while providing guidance, training and assistance to designers, checkers and drafters on small to medium size projects.
- Under the direction of the assigned Group Supervisor, manage a segment of a project.
- Coordinate with client and construction personnel to ensure the client's input and job requirements are adequately addressed and implemented consistently with the contractual requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction estimates, as well as additional documentation related to a project.
- Assist in estimating project design and drafting manpower requirements.
- Responsible for the final approval of drawings to ensure compliance with applicable codes and specifications and established discipline standards.
- Maintain engineering document indices and drafting progress reports on projects. Confirm checking and approval for all vendor shop drawings.
