A Lead Mechanical Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Ogden, UT area. This position will manage and mentor engineers on the Sentinel Project, ensuring the technical integrity and code compliance of plumbing and HVAC systems and supporting mechanical procurement while serving as the primary communications interface with external stakeholders.

responsibilities:
- Provide direction and technical guidance to discipline work group and assist the management of discipline work process execution and ensure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
- Assist in the building of an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
- Establish or assist in establishing and maintaining work plans to ensure schedules are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied.
- Create and track actions, estimate hours, and update schedules.
- Devise innovative approaches to solving problems from a variety of detailed technical options and assess cost implications.
- Contribute directly to the cost-effective design of plumbing and fire protection systems as well as unique requirement driven equipment.
- Identify major technical uncertainties and present solution options for management decisions.
- Serve as an advisor for the analysis and solution of engineering problems and interpret drawings, verbal instructions, and applicable codes relevant to project requirements and the ability to articulate explanations.
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in developing the design.
- Perform other related work as assigned by Mechanical Supervisor or Deputy Supervisors.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
- Experience in procurement of mechanical equipment including development of technical requirements, technical evaluation of bidders, reviewing vendor submittals, managing vendors through delivery, and coordination of technical issues.
- Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
- U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
