responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and install camera, lighting, sensor, and optical setups to support automated inspection across manufacturing facilities
- Develop and tune illumination solutions (backlights, dome lights, ring lights) to maximize feature visibility and minimize artifacts
- Select and validate appropriate cameras, lenses, filters, and sensors based on resolution, speed and environmental needs
- Design mechanical mounts, brackets, and protective enclosures for stable imaging in brownfield environments
- Produce precise engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using SolidWorks, or similar tool
- Tavel to manufacturing sites to scope, install, commission, and maintain machine vision hardware
- Troubleshoot issues such as lighting inconsistencies, focus problems, or sensor misconfiguration, resolving them quickly in the field
- Work with two other vision engineers, controls/IT, and plant personnel to ensure smooth system integration
- Install, coordinate, and supervise vendors or contractors responsible for fabrication and system deployment
- Support on-site technical needs, commissioning activities, and ongoing system optimization
- Establish repeatable hardware standards, documentation, and best practices for future installations
- Create and manage maintenance plans for camera, lighting, and sensors to ensure sustained performance
- Build or utilize automated monitoring tools to track imaging harddware health and trigger corrective actions
- Stay current with emerging imaging, lighting, and optics technologies to enhance system capabilities
