An Engineering Technician is needed in the Gloucester, MA area for an American corporation that supplies equipment, services and software for the manufacture of semiconductor chips for electronics, flat panel displays for computers, smartphones, televisions, and solar products. This Engineering Technician role is focused on building, testing, and troubleshooting complex prototypes and semiconductor platforms using schematics, vacuum systems, and specialized diagnostic tools.

responsibilities:
- Execute routine to complex electro-mechanical functions including design, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronic systems.
- Troubleshoot system-level and component-level issues within electrical, mechanical, and experimental circuitry.
- Build prototype models and specialized test equipment from unreleased schematics, layouts, and assembly drawings.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum testing on platforms according to engineering specifications.
- Conduct New Product Introduction (NPI) installations and field upgrades for various systems and sub-systems.
- Perform rework based on test results and generate Quality Notifications to document issues.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical test devices such as meters to diagnose equipment.
- Troubleshoot fiber optic communications and motion control systems using PMAC.
- Collaborate with engineering to identify and correct process gaps or manufacturing problems.
- Writes detailed technical reports and test procedures.
- Competence in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing on VSE platforms.
- Full understanding of company's manufacturing and engineering processes.
- Capable of building equipment from unreleased schematics, assembly drawings and pictures.
- Experience using hand and powered tools.
- Familiar with electrical test devices, meters, and such.
- Familiar with fiber optic communications.
