A Senior Pipe and Valve Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Reston, VA area. This is a Senior Piping & Valve Engineer role focused on the design, material specification, and technical procurement of piping systems in compliance with ASME codes for industrial plant projects.

responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and review plant design and piping work requirements to ensure configuration compliance.
- Prepare and execute material requisitions for bulk pipes, valves, supports, and other essential piping components.
- Perform complex calculations, including minimum pipe wall thickness and material evaluations, in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 codes.
- Develop and maintain piping material class specifications, valve technical sheets, and procurement documentation.
- Conduct detailed technical bid evaluations and award recommendations for external suppliers.
- Review supplier documents and coordinate with the supply chain team to clarify technical purchase order requirements.
- Resolve technical discrepancies by dispositioning supplier deviation requests and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Address field issues by managing Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and Field Change Documents (FCDs) from construction teams.
- Utilize software tools such as Smart Reference Data (SRD) and Oracle Agile to manage piping specifications and data.
- Ensure all procurement and design activities meet rigorous industry standards and project safety requirements.
- Knowledgeable of standard piping codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, IPC, etc.
- Prior experience developing piping material class sheets & technical specifications.
- Knowledge of Smart Reference Data (SRD) in the creation of Piping Specifications (Preferred).
- Familiar with Smart Plant Reference Data (Preferred).
- Familiar with Oracle Agile (Preferred).
- Requires Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and
- 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
