Our client is seeking a Utility Boiler Inspector/Engineer for their Marlborough, MA office. You will lead inspections, perform root cause analysis on pressure parts, and ensure ASME code compliance for high-pressure systems. Candidates will preferably have a BSME and 3 years of power industry experience. While this role supports our Marlborough hub, we offer partial remote flexibility for senior-level experts. responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive internal and external inspections of various boiler types (e.g., utility, industrial, waste-to-energy, recovery, and HRSG units) in accordance with industry codes and protocols.
- Identify, analyze, and document defects, damage, and wear mechanisms such as pressure part failures, corrosion, overheating, and weld integrity issues.
- Apply knowledge of combustion system diagnostics to identify issues that affect boiler performance, efficiency, and emissions.
- Prepare detailed, codified inspection reports with clear findings, root cause analysis, and actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and repair teams to develop and oversee effective repair and life extension strategies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution PREFERRED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design, operation, or maintenance of high-pressure steam generation systems.
- Mastery Power Piping codes, along with an understanding of metallurgy and welding processes.
- Working knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies, including ultrasonic and radiographic testing for tube thickness and weld integrity.
- Ability to work in industrial environments (climbing scaffolding, entering confined spaces) and a willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Required to travel at least 60% of the time
