As a key member of our engineering department, you will apply advanced mathematical and scientific principles to solve complex challenges within the food processing and packaged goods sector. You will transition between collaborative project support and independent leadership, overseeing small-to-medium-scale initiatives that help our organization scale effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Design & Research: Develop initial technical designs and material specifications. Conduct feasibility studies, economic analyses, and cost estimations for proposed upgrades. Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards and regulatory codes.
- Project Management: Oversee project lifecycles from conception to completion. This includes performing field surveys, translating project results into "as-built" documentation, and reviewing plant-level engineering submissions for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Vendor & Implementation Coordination: Partner with equipment manufacturers to design facility layouts and manage installation timelines. Review external consultant deliverables and provide technical feedback to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Documentation & Reporting: Define project scopes and evaluate incoming proposals. Prepare comprehensive budget analyses, justifications, and weekly progress reports for senior leadership.
- Fiscal Oversight: Assist in contract administration and the review of bid packages. Monitor ongoing installations to ensure projects remain within budget and meet all technical specifications.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of professional engineering experience (or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
- Technical Proficiency: High level of competence in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Core Competencies: Proven ability to apply engineering principles to operational hurdles. strong skills in project management, contract administration, and the interpretation of national technical codes.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel to various facility locations up to 50% of the time.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience within food manufacturing, meat processing, or high-volume consumer packaged goods (CPG).
- Analytical Mindset: strong reasoning skills with a focus on "engineering economics" to ensure ROI on capital projects.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and manage multiple competing priorities.
