A Senior Piping Project Lead is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Cary, NC area. This job manages the technical design, budget, and resource allocation for complex piping projects while supervising global teams and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.

responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary discipline lead for piping engineering and design while ensuring compliance with company standards and quality expectations.
- Supervise all aspects of pipe design including layout development, routing, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Oversee project level piping material specifications for process, utility, and specialty systems.
- Maintain strong client relationships by communicating design changes and managing expectations promptly.
- Monitor project progress and earned value while managing scope changes effectively.
- Develop person-hour estimates, allocate resources, and evaluate staff effectiveness.
- Oversee project level piping stress analysis activities to ensure system integrity and code compliance.
- Drive global workshare execution through strategic coordination and communication.
- Provide definitive expertise regarding piping and facility layout principles.
- Review vendor drawings, execute engineering designs, and develop design estimates.
- Prioritize construction costs and safety measures in all decision-making processes.
- Mentor team members to foster professional growth and technical excellence.
- Report to the piping department manager to deliver products meeting safety and constructability requirements.
- Attend the Cary, NC office location at least two days per week.
- Associate's degree in computer aided drafting and design or a similar technical degree.
- Minimum of 15 years of piping engineering or design experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget for complex industrial projects.
- Advanced knowledge of piping codes and standards such as ASME, B31.3, and BPE.
- Ability to model in Revit or AutoCAD Plant 3D or a proven history of coordinating global teams using these tools.
- strong understanding of constructability, safety, and cost control principles.
- Excellent leadership skills for managing multi-discipline teams and client interactions.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or advanced manufacturing facilities is ideal.
- Familiarity with pipe stress analysis and its integration with design deliverables.
- Demonstrated success in global workshare execution and remote team leadership.
- strong business acumen regarding earned value management and change control processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and experience with Hexagon SmartPlant 3D.
