A Piping Engineer is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Cary, NC area. This role requires experience performing advanced piping stress analysis and flexibility calculations to ensure system safety and code compliance (ASME) within a global, multi-discipline engineering team.

responsibilities:
- Perform and check complex piping stress calculations to ensure the structural integrity and safety of critical systems.
- Ensure all designs strictly comply with industry codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, B31.1, and BPE.
- Collaborate with piping designers to optimize layouts and validate designs through model reviews in Navisworks or SmartPlant Review.
- Provide technical input on piping material specifications to ensure compatibility with stress requirements.
- Estimate person-hours and engineering activities while identifying potential scope changes and management impacts.
- Coordinate with global workshare teams to maintain high-quality deliverables across multi-discipline environments.
- Support 3D design workflows using AutoCAD Plant 3D or Revit to assist with layout development.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead QA/QC processes through rigorous calculation checking and design validation.
- Integrate pharmaceutical or advanced manufacturing facility requirements into engineering safety standards.
- strong understanding of piping codes, standards, and flexibility analysis principles.
- Familiarity with model review software (Navisworks, SmartPlant Review).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline, global team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in piping stress analysis for industrial or commercial facilities.
