responsibilities:
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for medium-complexity projects across various contract types.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate scope of work for specific disciplines.
- Review project drawings, proposal specifications, and attend site meetings to define scope.
- Develop pricing based on industry standards, estimating guides, and company procedures.
- Utilize cost estimating software and maintain organized backup documentation for all figures.
- Organize estimates into Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) categorized by material, labor, and equipment.
- Apply appropriate mark-ups, contingency percentages, and construction standards.
- Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding project feasibility.
- Coordinate the total bidding effort for assigned projects under the mentorship of senior staff.
- Assist in updating and incorporating new data into the master cost database.
- Interpret computerized cost systems and data to ensure financial accuracy.
- Knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
- Disciplines of Estimating required: Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical,I&C, Pipeline, Storage, M&R.
- Associates or Bachelor degree preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of construction cost estimating working experience.
