A Project Scheduler is needed for an American defense, aviation, information technology, and biomedical research company in the Newark, NJ area. This role requires an experienced Project Scheduler to manage large-scale IT and SAP modernization projects for a utility client by utilizing Primavera P6 to develop resource-loaded schedules, perform critical path analysis, and ensure alignment between project timelines and financial forecasts.

responsibilities:
- Build and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 software.
- Perform detailed schedule analysis and manage dependencies across assigned SAP workstreams.
- Participate in formal scheduling audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Integrate cost and resource data into schedules following established governance procedures.
- Coordinate with project managers and leads to gather data and adjust scheduling parameters.
- Interact with stakeholders at both the project and program levels.
- Manage the scheduling database containing templates and historical project data.
- Align financial forecasting with the project manager and financial analyst based on schedule performance.
- Advise leadership on the effective use of coding, templates, and reporting within P6.
- Identify potential problem areas by evaluating project progress and performance.
- Develop recovery plans or alternative courses of action for schedules that have slipped.
- Communicate baseline and current status updates regarding project milestones and critical paths.
- Assist project leads in preparing estimate-to-complete (ETC) documents.
- Provide support for earned value management and perform schedule analytics.
- Attend project meetings and assist with documenting meeting notes and action items.
- Follow all established project scheduler standards required by the client.
- Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of seven years of professional scheduling experience specifically using Primavera P6.
- Solid understanding of project management office (PMO) structures and project management principles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a collaborative team setting.
- strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive-level interactions.
- Proficiency in researching, decision-making, and organizational tasks.
- High level of attention to detail and proven problem-solving abilities.
- Mastery of basic data tools and concepts while maintaining data confidentiality.
- Experience in capital project management with a specific focus on project controls.
- Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Office suite.
- Professional certification in Primavera P6.
- PMI-SP or PMP certifications are highly desirable.
- Previous experience working on SAP-related projects is a plus.
