Our client is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to support complex commercial construction projects across the Columbus, Ohio region. This role is focused on leading mechanical and electrical scopes from design coordination through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
The ideal candidate brings technical understanding of MEP systems, the ability to manage work independently, and hands-on field experience. This role is well-suited for professionals coming from construction management, commissioning, design-build trade partners, or engineering backgrounds who are ready to take ownership of multiple active projects.

responsibilities:
- Manage mechanical and electrical scopes across 4-6 active projects simultaneously.
- Lead MEP coordination from design development through construction execution and closeout.
- Develop and execute startup, testing, and commissioning plans for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Review design documents and identify constructability, coordination, and installation challenges.
- Partner with field teams to ensure quality installation, schedule adherence, and system performance.
- Support Messer's self-commissioning efforts on select projects.
- Track costs, evaluate installation impacts, and maintain visibility into building system budgets.
- Utilize project software tools including Autodesk Build, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
- Travel daily between job sites and the Columbus office as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (required).
- 5+ years of experience managing or supporting MEP scopes in commercial construction or industrial environments.
- Understanding of MEP system design and installation practices.
- Field-based construction experience (not desk-only roles).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with construction software platforms (Microsoft Office, Navisworks, Bluebeam; Autodesk Build preferred).
