A Senior Mechanical Engineer is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Cary, NC area. This is a Senior Mechanical Engineer role focused on business development, team management, and the design of complex thermal utility and energy transition systems for large-scale infrastructure projects.

responsibilities:
- Oversees the design and advisory services for thermal utility plants, distribution systems, and central utility plants.
- Manages projects involving steam, condensate, hot water, chilled water, and cogeneration (CHP) systems.
- Leads utility master planning, decarbonization strategies, and climate response initiatives.
- Specialized in natural gas prime power, heat pumps, heat recovery chillers, and thermal energy networks.
- Drives business growth through client engagement, relationship development, and proposal creation.
- Collaborates with sales professionals on strategic pursuits and large-scale project execution planning.
- Performs Owner's Engineer duties, technical due diligence, and contract management.
- Develops end-to-end life-cycle solutions from conceptual planning through detailed design and retirement.
- Ensures project delivery for diverse sectors including aviation, healthcare, education, and federal agencies.
- Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work, then deliver innovative solutions providing value to both the client and provider.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in business growth strategy, including exploration and development of new project opportunities, including knowledge and application of new and emerging technologies.
- Experience with proposal development and project execution planning, including scope development and manhour estimates for engineering services.
- Passion for mentoring and development of junior technical staff.

- Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- At least 10 years of engineering design and consulting experience.
