An Engineering Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Austin, TX area. This is a hands-on laboratory technician role focused on the precise setup, execution, and documentation of environmental and mechanical tests on delicate fiber optic components.

responsibilities:
- Assist with the setup and performance verification of fiber optic testing systems.
- Configure product samples for specific environmental and mechanical testing protocols.
- Conduct optical measurements utilizing both manual and automated test systems.
- Program and manage the operation of environmental chambers and specialized test equipment.
- Monitor, track, and report the real-time progress of ongoing testing cycles.
- Document all component testing results strictly following established procedures.
- Perform basic data analysis and draft formal test reports in required formats.
- Support failure mode analysis and perform basic technical troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory work environment.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for data entry and reporting.
- Handle very small, delicate fiber optic parts with precision and care.
- Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to complete assignments accurately and at a predefined schedule.
- Detail oriented.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Written/verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on technical skills using test and measuring equipment.
- High School diploma minimum.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory environment.
