Our client is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for a long term contract role in Austin, TX. Working a night shift from 9 PM to 8 AM, Tuesday through Friday (4 ten hour shifts, 3 day weekends!), you will ensure the integrity of high-density environments. This role is vital for hardware deployments, troubleshooting connectivity, and maintaining strict facility standards.

responsibilities:
- Hardware Deployment: Perform full-lifecycle installation and removal of servers, network devices, and storage arrays, including rail kits, PDUs, and cable management.
- Cable & Infrastructure Management: Build, terminate, and label cables (Fiber, Cat6, Twinax) while ensuring proper airflow through strategic floor tile placement.
- Systems Maintenance: Use ServiceNow and Nlyte (DCIM) to manage change requests, update asset tags, and document decommissions or equipment removals.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Provide hands-on support for infrastructure teams by tracing cables and testing SFPs to resolve connectivity or hardware issues.
- Site Operations: Maintain organized and safe environments in MDF/IDF rooms and prepare manifest documentation for decommissioned assets and media destruction.
- Technical Experience: strong background in racking and stacking IT equipment and managing complex cable infrastructures within a data center environment.
- Schedule Flexibility: Ability to commit to a consistent night shift (9 PM - 8 AM) on a Tuesday through Friday schedule for the duration of the project.
- Systems Knowledge: Proficiency with DCIM tools and incident management software (ServiceNow) to track tasks, status updates, and resolutions.
- Policy Compliance: Strict adherence to corporate security, cybersecurity, and environmental standards (hot/cold aisle integrity).
- Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with matrixed teams and provide detailed end-of-shift reports and project photography for documentation.
