responsibilities:
- Provide civil engineering leadership for natural gas capital projects
- Work on projects involving gas distribution, transmission, city gates, compression, and storage facilities
- Support capital upgrade projects while residing in the civil engineering group
- Collaborate with multidiscipline teams of project engineers, managers, and operations staff
- Identify and scope civil engineering design and construction needs
- Contract engineering services necessary to complete the project scope
- Provide engineering review and technical leadership
- Assist the Project Manager in contracting construction services
- Complete closeout activities including record drawings and test records
- Provide regular project updates to supervisors regarding status, risks, scope, quality, cost, and schedule
- Tolerate heavy industrial environments that may be loud, hot, or oily
- Climb stairs and fixed ladders to elevated platforms
- Enter or crawl into small and tight spaces such as access hatches
- Walk on rough construction grades as required
- Travel to construction projects on average 3 to 5 days per week
- Conduct site visits for pre-engineering kick-offs, pre-bid walk downs, and reviews
- Perform construction quality inspections and red-line walk downs
- Working knowledge of civil design including site design and stormwater management
- Knowledge of pre-engineered metal building design and foundation design
- Knowledge of storage tank design and environmental permitting
- Experience coordinating and developing contract documents
- Experience creating engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Working knowledge of Civil and Structural codes such as IBC and MBC
- Familiarity with AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, and ASCE 7
- Ability to work safely
