A Technical Specialist is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This role will operate and manage a high-tech fabrication and XR lab, overseeing a Bambu 3D printer farm, Keyence optical scanners, and VR/XR systems.

responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain a multi-printer Bambu 3D printer fleet, including calibration, firmware updates, and advanced hardware maintenance.
- Train lab users on end-to-end printing workflows, from model slicing and material selection to post-processing and quality checks.
- Manage the 3D print queue to ensure on-time delivery of parts while tracking filament inventory and consumables.
- Maintain the Keyence optical scanner, performing daily calibrations and generating high-precision measurement and inspection data.
- Set up and facilitate Autodesk VRED sessions for 1:1 scale design reviews using HTC Vive tethered VR systems.
- Configure and support Meta Quest 3 headsets, managing device imaging, hygiene protocols, and user onboarding for Autodesk XR.
- Serve as the safety lead and organizer for cross-functional design review sessions, capturing action items and enforcing PPE.
- Assist in drone scanning activities, including equipment readiness, battery management, and basic point cloud data processing.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, troubleshooting playbooks, and quick-start guides for all lab equipment.
- Comfortable training and providing customer service-oriented support.
- Working knowledge of Windows workstations, basic networking (LAN/Wi Fi), and peripheral/device management.
- Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and understand tolerances; familiarity with inspection/measurement concepts.
- Experience operating VR headsets and PCs in a lab or demo environment, strong attention to safety and equipment care.
- strong organization skills for scheduling, inventory, and documentation; ability to juggle multiple requests.
