A Material Engineer is needed for an American multinational consumer goods corporation that produces many popular Beauty, Home Care, and Family care brands in the Iowa City, IA area. This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end engineering, validation, and optimization of packaging systems and will manage global supplier relationships and technical documentation while driving cost-efficiency and manufacturability for new product launches.

responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end packaging development process from design to performance testing.
- Lead material qualifications at supplier sites and packaging validations at manufacturing plants.
- Author and align technical documentation, including protocols, reports, and assessments.
- Troubleshoot design, material, and process issues with cost-effective solutions.
- Analyze engineering drawings to determine safety, environmental, and material requirements.
- Establish standards for supplier evaluation and conduct periodic vendor reviews.
- Partner with global suppliers, engineering, operations, and sourcing teams.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to bring products to market.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives across materials, labor, and transportation.
- Optimize the supply base for quality, lead time, and regulatory compliance.
- Recommend efficiency tools and testing methods for design validation.
- Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for production.
