A Precision Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This role requires 10+ years of experience and SolidWorks mastery to lead the design, analysis (FEA), and hands-on installation of high-precision motion systems and manufacturing tooling.

responsibilities:
- Act as a senior mechanical engineer responsible for the full lifecycle design, build, and debug of precision motion systems and custom tooling.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed mechanical designs for complex manufacturing machinery.
- Apply core engineering principles in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design.
- Conduct structural FEA analysis to ensure equipment durability and performance.
- Manage vendors and collaborate with multi-functional teams including electrical, controls, IT, and operations.
- Provide hands-on support for the installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of equipment at R&D and factory sites.
- Independently develop technical solutions and approaches to meet specific project design requirements.
- Verify equipment builds and physical layouts against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Confer with internal engineers and external vendors to resolve discrepancies during the build or installation phases.
- Ensure all mechanical equipment is robust and suitable for high-volume manufacturing environments.
