An Assistant Mechanical Superintendent is needed for a leading construction organization outside of Columbus, OH (near Conesville). This role is essential for overseeing the successful coordination, installation, and commissioning of complex mechanical systems and industrial piping. You will provide critical leadership to trade partners to ensure project delivery meets the highest quality and safety standards.
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of commercial or industrial construction experience, specifically managing sophisticated mechanical infrastructure like data centers, airports, or related facilities. You must have the technical expertise to manage large workforces, solve complex field engineering challenges such as HVAC routing and piping hydraulics, and maintain a deep familiarity with QA/QC and mechanical commissioning protocols.
This is a direct-hire role, featuring an auto allowance and a driving stipend for those commuting more than 40 miles. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation of all mechanical systems-including HVAC, chilled water plants, industrial piping, and ductwork-to ensure strict compliance with project specifications and ASHRAE/SMACNA standards
- Provide direct oversight and leadership to mechanical trade partners, pipefitters, and equipment vendors throughout the construction lifecycle
- Manage mechanical punch lists and resolve complex field engineering issues (e.g., BIM clashes or equipment rigging logistics) promptly to maintain project momentum
- Facilitate start-up and commissioning activities, including air/water balancing and functional performance testing, to ensure all mechanical systems are fully operational
- Maintain proactive relationships with clients, mechanical designers, and project teams from pre-construction through system hand-off
