Our client is a well known automotive manufacturer in Kentucky. They are seeking an Automation and Robotics Engineer for their team. This role is focused on developing and deploying innovative robotic systems, including a new virtual safety system for fence-less robot operation, managing associated projects, and integrating machine vision and PLC programming in an automotive manufacturing environment.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree (ABET accredited) in a relevant engineering field, 2+ years of automotive experience, and expertise in robotic systems development using ROS, vision systems, full PLC programming, and Toyopuc. Key experience includes innovative manufacturing project development, project management, CAD/CAM use, and equipment installation, along with a willingness to travel (25%) and work overtime (20%).

responsibilities:
- Deploy new virtual safety systems to enable robots to operate without fences.
- Develop and integrate robotic systems using ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Manage projects, which involves writing detailed scopes of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing regular status updates.
- Develop innovative projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Work on PLC Projects, including program writing, teaching, and adhering to safety standards.
- Analyze and interpret engineering drawings.
- Install manufacturing equipment.
