A Material Planner is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Bohemia, NY area. This position requires an experienced professional to manage supply and demand planning, optimize inventory levels, and coordinate production schedules within the aerospace interiors division to ensure customer service excellence and business predictability.

responsibilities:
- Manage scheduling and monitor production dates using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Plan, schedule, and maintain sales plans and production orders.
- Create work orders based on start dates and manage them until closure.
- Conduct Can-Build analysis to determine production feasibility.
- Evaluate material and labor availability for pre-order entry requests.
- Monitor customer requirements to create a level-loaded Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Use standard tools to manage short and long-term SIOP capacity profiles.
- Maintain inventory levels to balance customer service and inventory turns.
- Lead multi-disciplined production meetings and communicate across various organizational levels.
- Generate weekly and monthly sales estimates for specific product lines.
- Manage Item Master planning parameters and replenishment strategies.
- Identify, prioritize, and track material shortages proactively.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by coordinating prototypes and production readiness.
- University degree with 5 years of experience, or Advanced degree with 3 years of experience.
- Alternative of 9 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Background in production or material planning and forecasting operations.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Skill in using formulas and pivot tables to manage large data sets.
- Basic understanding of drawings and bills of materials.
- Knowledge of Lean or continuous improvement activities.
