Sr. Design Engineer with Automotive powertrain expertise needed for immediate direct hire role in the Augusta, GA area! This is a high priority role seeking a seasoned subject matter expert within automotive powertrain subsystems.
Requirements for this role are a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of related experience working with design requirements, risk analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R as well as having a solid understanding of designing to regulatory product standards and Problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 9- step, etc... You'll work on both traditional gas engines and electric vehicle tech. This isn't just a "sit at your desk" job; you'll be leading projects, solving big problems, and helping the whole organization grow.

responsibilities:
- Develop vehicle and component mechanical specifications and qualification plans
- Act as the lead authority on major vehicle subsystems, such as motors, engines, or transmissions.
- Use structured methodologies (like 8D or 9-step) to solve critical technical issues and serve as the primary engineering contact for customer-facing problems.
- Create detailed mechanical specifications and develop rigorous testing plans to ensure every component is durable and high performing
- Lead the documentation process for reliability, including analyzing potential failure points and ensuring all engineering changes are tracked and communicated.
- Use structured methodologies to keep projects on schedule, remove technical "roadblocks," and ensure the team hits its goals
- BS in Engineering along with 5+ years of related experience with automotive powertrain subsystems
- Deep experience in the mechanical analysis and design of powertrains (EV or ICE) is highly preferred
- Must be a driven individual who works effectively across teams to implement innovative solutions and consistently meet performance goals
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Project for scheduling and Excel for advanced data modeling and technical analysis
