responsibilities:
- Create and refine detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for uprights, beams, and specialized racking components using design software
- Perform basic structural analysis and load capacity calculations to ensure racking configurations meet seismic and weight-load requirements
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize designs for various manufacturing processes to reduce scrap and lead times
- Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering change notices (ECNs)
- Iterate designs based on load testing performance data and failure analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field; equivalent experience to be considered
- Experience designing steel pallet racking systems strongly desired
- Knowledge of RMI (Rack Manufacturers Institute) or AISI standards for cold-formed steel design highly preferred
- Advanced experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D drafting. Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is a plus
