responsibilities:
- Identify, design, build, and test prototype and pilot manufacturing equipment for existing or revolutionary optical fiber processes to reduce costs and improve product quality.
- Work alongside other engineering disciplines and machine design experts to translate experimental solutions into functional industrial process equipment.
- Execute equipment validation tests directly within manufacturing plants, analyze the resulting data, and make strategic recommendations.
- Secure project funding through appropriation requests and expense budgeting, and ensure on-time delivery using established risk management tools.
- Continually communicate project results, progress, and detailed equipment designs to the technology development team.
