Seeking a 3rd Class Steam Engineer for a high growth materials industrial manufacturer in the Woburn, MA area.
The Steam Engineer and Master Plumber would be responsible for directing the safe, compliant operation of all process, utility, and sanitary systems-including high-pressure steam, hazardous chemical lines, compressed air, and industrial wastewater treatment. Combines advanced technical expertise in corrosive/hazardous piping with team leadership, preventive maintenance planning, and emergency response.
Master Plumber, Journeyman Plumber and 3rd Class Steam Engineering license are required!

responsibilities:
- Master Plumber of Record: Oversee, approve, and sign off on all internal and contractor plumbing installations, modifications, and repairs.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor journeyman and apprentice plumbers/pipefitters while conducting quality control.
- System Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on high-pressure steam, process piping (chemicals/acids), industrial wastewater, HVAC/utility loops, compressed air, and gas systems.
- Emergency Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair complex system failures (leaks, blockages, steam traps, pumps) under production-critical conditions to minimize downtime.
- Installation & Commissioning: Install and test new piping, chemical dosing lines, and boiler components in compliance with design specs and Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Testing & Inspection: Perform hydrostatic/pneumatic pressure testing, ultrasonic steam trap testing, and corrosion monitoring.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate as-built drawings, P&IDs, steam trap databases, and wastewater discharge logs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to IPC/UPC, ASME (B31.1, B31.3), EPA wastewater permits, OSHA (LOTO, confined space), and NFPA standards.
